About Monash Spiritual Centre

Monash Spiritual Centre (MSC) was founded during 1976 by Valerie Pearson, an accomplished clairvoyant and trance medium. From it's beginnings as a private discussion group in a suburban lounge room, numbers quickly grew because of Valerie's reputation for a "no nonsense" approach to Spiritualism, her sound spiritual teachings and outstanding mediumship.

In no time meetings moved out of the lounge room and into a converted garage which became MSC's home for the next 10 years. Although the "venue" was small and had a maximum capacity of approx 70 people, it soon it gained a reputation as one of the most popular Spiritualist centres in Melbourne at that time. Meetings and discussion groups regularly overflowed with members and guests eager to learn and experience Spiritualism in it's truest form.

MSC also gained the enviable reputation of only having the best speakers and demonstrators on it's platform - with many well known international guests regularly appearing. It was often said that if you appeared on the MSC platform, you knew you had "made it".

During the 1990's Valerie and family had to move to another location and found it was not possible to continue holding the meetings "on-site", so another venue was hired for this purpose in Hughesdale.

With hall hire and public liability costs blowing out during the late 1990's, it became unviable to continue holding open meetings and events, so it was decided to scale back operations.

Today Monash Spiritual Centre Inc runs a small number of Spiritualist groups and Valerie makes a limited number of public speaking appearances at other centres and churches each year.

During early 2010, the popular open discussion group was reformed.

Just as it was when first formed, MSC is still made up of, and supported by, a fairly diverse group "ordinary" people from all types of backgrounds, nationalities, religions and professions. Their common link remains a belief in the spiritual aspects of life which are based around the Spiritualist philosophy .

The aim of MSC is to provide a means so you can learn about Spiritualism and your real self in an open and friendly environment.

Whilst the emphasis is on promoting the Spiritualist philosophy based around the Seven Principles of Spiritualism this does not mean discussions are limited to this alone. Discussions often include matters relating to issues in the media, personal experiences, other philosophies and religions, scientific matters, popular new age interests or books etc.

MSC Inc is an incorporated body registered with the Australian Securities & Investment Commission. It is a non-profit / charitable organisation run and managed by a small committee made up of financial members who volunteer their time. There are no paid employees, workers or financial beneficiaries.
